30 Most Anticipated Movies of 2017 | PART 2

In the previous post, we’ve listed the first 10 most anticipated movies of 2017. It’s #FilmFriday and I can’t help but make a movie list because, well, watching movie one great experience. It’s a visual treat; a stress-reliever but I can’t promise laughter on heavy dramas right? 😉

11. Wonder Woman | RELEASE DATE: JUNE 2



Power. Grace. Wisdom. Wonder. Gal Gadot returns to big screen to fulfill her title role as Wonder Woman in an epic-adventure movie directed by Patty Jenkins [Monster (2003)]. 12. Beauty And The Beast | RELEASE DATE: MARCH 17



Directed by Bill Condon [Mr. Holmes (2015); The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 (2011) & 2 (2012)], Beauty and the Beast (2017) is a live-action retelling of Disney’s 1991 animated movie. The charming Emma Watson stars as Belle along side Dan Stevens as the Beast and Luke Evans as Gaston, the villager who sought after Belle’s love.


“Beauty and the Beast” is the fantastic journey of Belle, a bright, beautiful and independent young woman who is taken prisoner by a beast in his castle. 13. Thor: Ragnarok | RELEASE DATE: NOVEMBER 3


Chris Hemsworth returns to the big screen, third time around, as the titular character Thor for Marvel’s Thor: Ragnarok. The movie is directed by Taika Waititi. The movie also stars Tom Hiddleston (reprising his role as Loki), Cate Blanchett, Idris Elba, Jeff Goldblum, and Anthony Hopkins.

14. Despicable Me 3 | RELEASE DATE: JUNE 30



Despicable Me 3 continues the adventures of Gru – a super villain turned adorable dad and hero, the three orphan girls – Margo, Edith and Agnes, and the Minions – Gru’s faithful melodious henchmen. Directed by Pierre Coffin and Kyle Balda, the third installment of the Despicable Me franchise introduces super villain Balthazar Bratt. So far, Bratt is described as a former child star who became obsessed with the character he played in the ’80s and of course he wants global domination.



15. War For The Planet Of The Apes | RELEASE DATE: JULY 14



Planet Of The Apes is a successful sci-fi movie franchise where racial conflict is evident between apes and humans. A little bit of history, the story began with French author Pierre Boulle’s novel La Planète des Singes (1963) and it was adapted into a movie, Planet of the Apes, in 1968. Directed by Matt Reeves, War For The Planet Of The Apes is a sequel to Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014) and third installment reboot series. The film’s casts are Andy Serkis, Woody Harrelson, and Steve Zahn.


In War for the Planet of the Apes, the third chapter of the critically acclaimed blockbuster franchise, Caesar and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless Colonel. After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins his own mythic quest to avenge his kind. 16. Alien: Covenant | RELEASE DATE: MAY 19



Alien: Covenant is the sixth installment in all of the Alien movie franchise and the third installment to be directed by Ridley Scott. The movie is the sequel to Prometheus (2012) starring Noomi Rapace (Elizabeth Shaw) and Michael Fassbender (David). The movie’s cast includes Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, and DemiĂĄn Bichir.


Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created, with ALIEN: COVENANT, a new chapter in his groundbreaking ALIEN franchise. The crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world. 17. Fifty Shades Darker | RELEASE DATE: FEBRUARY 10



Dakota Johnson (Anastasia “Ana” Steele) and Jamie Dornan (Christian Grey) are reprising their roles in the erotic romantic drama Fifty Shades Darker that’s based on the bestselling novel of same title by E. L. James (real name Erika Mitchell). Fifty Shades Darker is directed by James Foley (House of Cards, The Chamber).


When a wounded Christian Grey tries to entice a cautious Ana Steele back into his life, she demands a new arrangement before she will give him another chance. As the two begin to build trust and find stability, shadowy figures from Christian’s past start to circle the couple, determined to destroy their hopes for a future together.


Also returning from Fifty Shades of Grey are Academy AwardÂŽ winner Marcia Gay Harden, Rita Ora, Luke Grimes, Victor Rasuk, Eloise Mumford and Max Martini, who are joined for the first time by OscarÂŽ winner Kim Basinger, Bella Heathcote and Eric Johnson. – summary from Universal Pictures

Directed by Alex Kurtzman, The Mummy is a reboot of the horror-adventure franchise The Mummy, a movie that centers on an ancient Egyptian priest who is accidentally resurrected only to bring terror to the world. The cast includes Tom Cruise, Sofia Boutella, Annabelle Wallis, Jake Johnson, Courtney B. Vance, and Russell Crowe.

19. Kong: Skull Island | RELEASE DATE: MARCH 10



Directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts, Kong: Skull Island is a reboot of the King Kong franchise where a team of explorers ventures into an uncharted island only to find out that they are trespassing the abode of monstrous inhabitants. To name a few, the movie stars Tom Hiddleston (James Conrad, a Vietnam War veteran), Samuel L. Jackson (U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel Preston Packard), Brie Larson (Mason Weaver, a photojournalist), and Jing Tian.


The producers of Godzilla reimagine the origins of one the most powerful monster myths of all in Kong: Skull Island, from Warner Bros. Pictures, Legendary Pictures and Tencent Pictures. 20. Smurfs: The Lost Village | RELEASE DATE: APRIL 7



Written by Stacey Harman and Pamela Ribon and directed by Kelly Asbury, Smurfs: The Lost Village is based on The Smurfs comic book series created by Peyo, a Belgian comics artist. The following actors lend their voice for the animated movie: Demi Lovato (Smurfette), Rainn Wilson (Gargamel), Joe Manganiello (Hefty), Jack McBrayer (Clumsy), Danny Pudi (Brainy), Michelle Rodriguez (SmurfStorm), Ellie Kemper (SmurfBlossom), Ariel Winter (SmurfLily), Mandy Patinkin (Papa), and Julia Roberts (SmurfWillow).
